What is a cognitive load score?
A cognitive load score is a 0-100 behavioral estimate of how much cognitive strain your AI tool usage may be creating. Higher scores suggest more available capacity, while lower scores suggest increasing strain. BrainShield's scoring uses multiple research-informed signals calibrated to your individual patterns over 5 days.
The score maps to broad states such as thriving, steady, strained, and depleted. Treat those states as decision-support signals, not clinical measurements. The score is not a simple timer; it considers AI work intensity, time of day, tool switching, cumulative exposure, and recovery breaks.
