FAQ
Can I use BrainShield and Timing together?
Yes — they're complementary. Timing shows you where your time went across all Mac apps. BrainShield shows you what your AI tool usage specifically cost your brain. Timing is a rear-view mirror; BrainShield is a dashboard warning light.
Why doesn't app time tracking capture cognitive load?
Time-per-app is one input, not the full picture. Cognitive load depends on context switches, tool diversity, session intensity, and circadian timing. BrainShield captures all seven dimensions of cognitive strain — Timing captures one (duration).
Does BrainShield work on Mac?
Yes. BrainShield runs as a Chrome extension, so it works on any platform that runs Chrome — Mac, Windows, Linux, and ChromeOS. Unlike Timing, it's not platform-locked.
Does BrainShield have a free plan?
Yes. Free shows you the score — real-time wellness scoring across 165+ AI tools and basic break reminders. Wellness ($12/mo) adds tool breakdowns, trends, and 30-day history. Balance ($19/mo) adds AI-powered insights, productivity scoring, and data export.
